Perth Amboy Advertising Blotters

In 1961, when I was in the fourth grade, I still remember
writing with fountain pens.  We were not allowed to use
a ball-point pen. When the fountain pen ran dry, you had to get out your
bottle of ink and refill the pen. The bad part of using a fountain
pen is when a drop of ink would fall on your paper and you would
have to start all over again.
I was fascinated by writing with a fountain pen that I found
myself going into Woolworth's and buying different color inks.
Usually when people wrote with a fountain pen they
used a blotter to blot up the excess ink on the page they were writing on.
The ink would also dry quicker.
In the 40's, 50's and early 60's, blotters would be handed out
as a form of advertisement  for a company.
Some blotters from Perth Amboy
