After the Great Chicago fire in 1871 that left the entire city in ruins a new building code was established that all new construction be made out of brick. After many years of research I have learned that the fire brick and glazed terra-cotta used to rebuild the city came from Woodbridge and Perth Amboy companies. The glazed terracotta buildings that still stand today are of remarkable beauty.
Wow,very interesting. Wonder how many of those buildings in Chicago are still standing?
