How many times have you passed the statue 

in City Hall Park?

Did you ever wonder how long it has been there,

or why is it there?

The Terra Cotta Statue of George Washington
has been in City Hall park for over 100+ years.
 Funds for the statue were raised within the Scandinavian Community.
The statue was an expression of their pride and love
for their adopted country.

  Nels Nielsen Alling, a Danish sculptor was commissioned
to create the statue. Alling worked on the statue at the
New Jersey Terra Cotta Co.

Statue was dedicated on September 2, 1895.
